The risk of a tick bite

As soon as a tick lands on a host it will crawl over the skin in order to find the perfect spot to bite. When this spot is located the tick will slowly bite itself through the skin until it reaches the blood circle. It will stay attached to the host for as long as 10 days, if it is not removed earlier of course. A human does not feel the bite because the tick injects a narcotic through its saliva while biting the host. It is also through the saliva that for example the TBE virus or Lyme disease is spread. Then the Tick-Borne-Virus will find its way to organs like the bone marrow, the milt or the liver via the lymph. In about 20-30% of the infections the virus will reach the brain and it can cause a meningitis. In a few cases it can even cause an infection of the spinal marrow. The longer the tick is docked to the host the higher the risk of an infection.
The Tick Removal
It is extremely important to totally remove the tick as soon as possible! Be careful, when removing the tick to not squeeze or stress the it, as this enlarges the chance of a transmission of the disease. Freezing the tick with TICKNER reduces the chance of transmission drastically. Nevertheless, not all ticks carry or can transmit diseases.
